Five Years Strong: The Next Chapter Starts Now

In February 2026, JK Roberts, LLC marked five years of helping organizations prepare, respond,

and lead through disruption. This is what we built, and where we are headed.

A FIRM BUILT ON ONE CONVICTION

February 2021. One practitioner. One belief: plans have to work when the pressure is on.

JK Roberts, LLC was founded in February 2021, just weeks after my final day of federal service. When the expected door didn’t open, it became clear that this was not a setback but a signal. Raised with the belief that when God closes a door, another will open, and that sometimes it is a window, this was one of those moments. The window that opened was the chance to build something of my own.

That decision was not made lightly. Two decades of experience spanning federal appointments, state government leadership, emergency management, and private sector strategy is a strong foundation, but launching a firm still requires resolve. The plan was clear. The commitment was firm. And the work began in February 2021.

The timing mattered, too. If 2020 taught organizations anything, it was that the ones who had done the work ahead of time, who had thought through the what-ifs before they became the right-nows, were the ones that held together when everything else fell apart. That lesson shaped the conviction at the heart of JK Roberts from day one: organizations don’t fail during crises because they lack plans. They fail because the plans don’t work when the pressure is on.

That is the problem this firm was built to solve.

From crisis communications to active threat planning, JK Roberts built a four-pillar service portfolio grounded in real engagements, real clients, and real pressure, not frameworks developed in a conference room.

Five years of engagements across ports and infrastructure, healthcare, nonprofits, international partners, and government-adjacent organizations, each one building on the last and strengthening the expertise brought to the next.

Every plan JK Roberts delivers is pressure-tested through tabletop exercises and realistic scenario planning, leaving organizations with teams that know their roles and programs that hold when the incident is real.

The Launch of PSEMA

Building a Resilient Business Community

Plans Tested Under Pressure

In 2021, the Private Sector Emergency Management Association was founded, the only national association dedicated exclusively to business-to-business resilience, activating in support of major hurricane responses, the Los Angeles wildfires, and international disaster events, and engaging with the Department of Defense on private sector homeland support planning.

JK Roberts has made continuity planning accessible and actionable for organizations of all sizes, from large critical infrastructure operators building comprehensive multi-phase programs to small businesses and nonprofits developing their first framework, because every organization that serves a community deserves resilience built to their scale.

THE FOUNDATION IS STRONG. THE NEXT CHAPTER IS UNDERWAY.

New clients. Expanded services. A deeper network. The next five years start now.

Five years of proof. A deeper network. An expanded portfolio. The foundation is strong, and the next chapter is already underway.

Expanding the PSEMA Network

A Trusted Voice on Policy and Resilience

Making Resilience Accessible

The work of building public-private resilience is far from finished. Over the next five years, JK Roberts will continue to grow the PSEMA network, reaching new audiences, opening new conversations, and pushing the boundaries of what business-to-business collaboration in emergency management can look like. Research partnerships are already opening doors to discussions with military leadership on the role of business and industry in homeland support, conversations that reflect how seriously the next generation of disaster management is taking the private sector as a partner, not an afterthought.

Making Resilience Accessible

A Trusted Voice on Policy and Resilience

Making Resilience Accessible

Resilience planning has long been viewed as the domain of large organizations with dedicated risk teams and deep budgets. That has to change. One of the clearest priorities for the next five years is making practical, high-quality programs accessible to organizations that have never had them, and to those whose plan has never been tested. Every organization that serves a community deserves to know what it will do when the pressure is on.

The next chapter is also about thought leadership, using every tool available to translate complex policy, emerging threats, and hard-won field experience into insight that is clear, useful, and worth reading. Through Curiosity Sparks JK Roberts is committed to being a trusted voice at the intersection of policy and practice, turning what is happening in Washington, in disaster management, and in boardrooms across the country into plain-language guidance that helps organizations make better decisions.

The Invitation

The best work of the next five years starts with a conversation. If your organization is ready to invest in resilience that actually performs under pressure, in crisis communications, disaster management, business continuity, or active threat planning, this is the right time to start.
